Reggio Emilia Classroom

The Reggio Emilia approach was formulated after World War II by pedagogist Loris Malaguzzi and his parents who lived in a village near Reggio Emilia, Italy and that is how this unique approach got its name!

We at Neev – The Foundation School, have embraced the Reggio Emelia approach as it encourages children to play, learn and grow by creating and constructing with items that are easily accessible to them in a non-traditional learning classroom. Our exclusive Reggio Emilia classroom enables our tiny tots to experiment with materials like chalk, clay, watercolours, cotton balls, q-tips, beans, pulses, sticks, popsicle sticks, macaroni, pine cones, leaves, stones and sponges. Visit us and see for yourself how our students learn the life cycle of a butterfly or a frog using macaroni, twigs, leaves, cotton balls and other household objects! For all you know, you may even catch them creating their own little jungle of wild animals, in a bin, using branches, stones, sand, leaves, twigs and animal toys!

Montessori and Sensorial Room

Montessori is a method of education that is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. Dr. Maria Montessori discovered that experiential learning in the classroom led to a deeper understanding of language, mathematics, science, music, social interactions. In our specially designed Montessori and Sensorial Room, children make creative choices in their learning and our team of highly trained facilitators offer age-appropriate activities to guide them. Doing so, they gain independence and learn to complete their daily tasks confidently. Alongside, they also develop their fine motor skills and language skills.

Bookworm – The Library

We believe that the importance of reading for children cannot be underestimated. Reading benefits a child’s education, social and cognitive development as also their wellbeing, and mental health. Exposing children to reading when they are young introduces them to a lot of words thereby building their vocabulary and also helps them become independent readers and writers. A visit to our library is one of the most sought after activities for our students and so glued are they to the books that we have named this room “The Bookworm”

Music Wall

Music is an important aspect in a child’s life, more so when they are young and raring to explore. Have you tried making music with random objects? It is fun and children love it! At Neev – The Foundation School, we have put up a ‘music wall’ where one will find tin cans, bottles, metal bars, buckets, cutlery, plates, old pots, pans and a lot more of such recycled material! This fun sensory experience facilitates our tiny tots to explore how sound is made by vibrations. Students are free to bang on them with their makeshift ‘drum sticks’ and create their own music without a worry in the world. So next time your child bangs a plate with a spoon, do not stop him / her from creating a ruckus, send him to us to explore further! What seems like a nuisance to an adult is actually music to a child.

Explorer’s Den

Children have an inbuilt drive for discovery. Recognising this, our school has a specially designated room which we call the ‘Explorer’s Den’ – a hands-on, interactive space for our children explore their physical as well as creative abilities. The international standard role play stations enable creativity and imagination and foster social and emotional development. An integral part of the Explorer’s den is the ‘Puppet Theatre’ which apart from being used for story-telling, aids our facilitators to introduce ideas, teach new concepts and to reinforce lessons taught in class. This in fact is the most interactive corner with children using expressive language, inventing characters and telling stories as they take turns at role play.

Computer Lab

We are living in a technologically dominant world and at Neev – The Foundation School, we believe in keeping our students abreast with technology. Introducing children to computers at an early age can work wonders. Our Computer Lab is used by our Nursery and Kindergartners who familiarize themselves with desktops and go on to learn basic programs like MS Word, MS Paint and how to navigate a mouse. They also type sentences and participate in various interactive exercises and games, thus expanding their skill sets further.

Sand Pit

We believe that playing and having fun is not a break from learning, it is learning in itself. Sandpit activity is one such play-time where children are able to engage themselves in developing their fine motor skills, hand eye coordination and social skills like sharing and communicating. While in the sand-pit, they are constantly exploring ways to solve real-life problems and get to enhance their vocabulary as well as mathematical concepts. Whether shaped into castles, dug, dripped, sifted, or buried, sand can take many different forms, thus offering endless opportunities for fun and learning!

Messy Area

Messy Area is exactly what it sounds like, a place for children to make a mess – a controlled mess in a stimulating environment with lots of different ways to play and learn. Messy play is extremely important for the child’s development as it provides an exciting tactile and sensory experience that inspires their curiosity and allows them to explore the world around them. Children are born ready to learn and letting our children make mistakes and finding out for themselves how the world works, is a big part of learning. At our Messy Area our students get an opportunity to enhance their learning, language and creativity as also cognitive and physical development.

Art and Craft Room

Children are imaginative and curious and love to be carefree without being judged. They love to explore and express with various materials. At Neev – The Foundation School, we have a spacious Art and Craft room for the little ones to harness their creativity and come up with their own masterpieces using colourful paints, paper and junk items. Their sparkling eyes when an empty milk tetra pack turns into a beautiful cow, or when they splash colour on paper without anyone barring them for being so messy, is indeed a wonderful sight to behold. Alongside, we aim at inculcating the 3 R’s- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle at this young and impressionable age itself, so most of the art work they do, revolves around junk that we painstakingly collect throughout the year! Each day is a new experience, a new learning not just for these kids but also for us, for when it comes to imagination running riot, one never knows what these tiny tots can come up with!
